Camp Happy Days is our largest and most exciting event of the year, and is just around the corner: July 4th – 10th. Brimming with excitement and anticipation, more than 160 children with cancer and their siblings will arrive at Camp Bob Cooper eager to discover a dream world awaiting them. For this entire time, they will leave the worries of parents and doctors, hospitals and cancer, far behind, trading them in for new friends, laughter, and near-endless surprises…many of which are very BIG.
It’s a week like no other, for kids like no other.
The Magic
What cancer takes away, Camp Happy Days strives to give back, empowering these children to pursue their dreams, conquer their fears and continue the their fight. Camp is an extraordinary place where children battling cancer meet others who know what it’s like to lose their hair, be sick from chemo or have scars from treatment. These amazing kids discover a renewed sense of pride and inner strength, building supportive new friendships that will offer encouragement during challenging times. Camp is an overwhelming feeling of belonging and understanding that permeates this experience. This happens because every child’s life, whether as a child with cancer or sibling has had his or life touched by the realities of cancer. As such, very strong bonds form and all become part of the Camp Happy Days Family.
The Wonder
Camp is filled with countless awe-inspiring moments each day as campers accomplish things they never dreamed were possible. Many have never had an opportunity to try horseback riding, tubing, parasailing or the high ropes adventure challenge course. But, at Camp Happy Days, they learn most anything is possible with encouragement, trust and a helping hand.
The Hope
As we pack our bags and prepare for camp this summer, we hope you will help us ensure that every child suffering from this devastating, life-altering disease and their family have an opportunity to experience all of the incredible opportunities that Camp Happy Days offers.
