Turkey Day Run

Start your Thanksgiving right by volunteering or participating in the Turkey Day Run. Camp Happy Days is a beneficiary of this fun race. You can race or cheer on the runners, but either way you do not want to miss this great event. After, the races stay to enjoy live music and other entertainment. There are activities for all ages.

Holiday Festival

California Dreaming is graciously opening their doors to Camp Happy Days for a night of fun and fellowship. A delicious dinner will be served; craft time and a special visit from Santa will make this night an unforgettable family memory.

Cabooty Holiday Party and Auction Fundraiser

21st Annual Cabooty Holiday Party with silent and live auctions. Dance and enjoy the sounds of music by Plane Jane while sipping on a delicious drink and eating festive food provided by Graze and Rita’s of Folly Beach.
Tickets are $50 per person. CHD volunteers and families can call the office for information on special priced tickets.

Holiday Giving
December 12th – 17th, 2011
at Our Office
Families that have a child that has been diagnosed within the past (5) years is eligible to receive assistance with gifts this Holiday Season. The child with cancer and their siblings, ages 0 – 18 are eligible for this program. The gifts are collected at our office in Charleston (visit Contact for a map) and the week of December 12th – 17th the families pick up the gifts. This is a program that you must register for to participate. A “wish list” is completed for each eligible child and turned in to the Programs Director (Teresa) in order to pair your child(ren) with a sponsor. Volunteers, donors, and friends join forces to adopt a child or a family to help fulfill their Christmas wishes!

Extreme Teen Lock-In

This event is for all teens between the ages of 13-18, who have been diagnosed within the last (5) years and their siblings who are also between the ages of 13-18. This year we will return to the Ice Palace for a night of “crazy” fun!

Disney World Adventure
February 16th – 20th, 2012

Get ready to experience five days and four nights of non-stop action as we visit five fantastic Orlando theme parks, including Disney World, Epcot, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Sea World. From thrilling roller coaster rides to amazing dinner shows, this trip is one of the most magical and memorable experiences a child will ever enjoy. Our most trusted and experienced Camp counselors and a qualified medical team will join us on this unforgettable adventure.
This event is for children with cancer and their siblings who are between the ages of 11-16, whereby the child with cancer was diagnosed with cancer within five (5) years from the date of the trip and have not previously participated in this experience. Please note that the child with cancer must participate in order for siblings to attend. Renaissance siblings between the ages of 11-16 are invited to participate as well.
Family Requirements – For the child with cancer, diagnosed within past (5) years or has relapsed in past (5) years, for their siblings and for renaissance siblings of children who were eligible
before passing away. All ages of participants are 11 – 16.

35th Annual Cooper River Bridge Run

3rd Annual Charleston Bed Race Fundraiser

This is the 3rd Annual Charleston Bed Race. Teams of 5 people (4 pushers and 1 rider) will create their own bed, and push it on a 100 yard course in Hampton Park against other teams. There are prizes for fastest beds, most creative beds, student beds, corporate beds, and most creative.

CHD Family Reunion
Sunday – April 29, 2012
Cypress Gardens, Moncks Corner, SC

This event is for all families who have had a child diagnosed with cancer. Spend the day with the Camp Happy Days family at Cypress Gardens, Moncks Corner, SC. Plan to enjoy a fascinating boat ride through the Cypress swamp, listen and dance to a bluegrass band, experience the butterfly garden and learn a little about the history of plantations in the Lowcountry of SC. Lunch will be a feast and served on the lawn of Cypress Gardens. Plan now to spend Sunday afternoon with us!

Extreme Teen Water Weekend

River Dogs Game Night

Join Camp Happy Days in a night of fun at a River Dogs baseball game. This is for the whole family as we sit together and cheer on our very own River Dogs. More information will be posted about this fun night in the year. But go ahead and mark your calendars because it truly is a ton of fun!

Doodlebug Day

Bee City Honeybee Farm & Petting Zoo, Cottageville, SC
The Doodlebug Day is a special one-day adventure for our youngest Camp Happy Days kids ages 3-9 and their parents. It is a chance to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon together enjoying delicious food and entertaining activities. Some of our most trusted and seasoned Camp Counselors will accompany us on this trip to give both kids and parents a chance to meet those who will be caring for this age group at Camp in July. Giving children a chance to meet other kids and their counselors helps alleviate some of the fear and anxiety they may experience and gives parents peace of mind knowing their child will be in good hands at Camp. Please join us for lunch and lots of laughs at Bee City Honey Bee Farm and Petting Zoo.
Family Requirements – For all children diagnosed with cancer and their siblings who are
between the ages of 3-9. Each child must be accompanied by a guardian in order to attend this event.
Volunteer Requirements – Volunteers signed up to work with the 4-6 or 7-9 age groups at

Camp Happy Days 2012

Camp Bob Cooper, Summerton, SC
Camp Happy Days is our flagship event designed especially for children diagnosed with cancer and their siblings. It is an action-packed week filled with more head-spinning, heart-pounding fun than a child could ever imagine. Each day children have access to waterfront activities like parasailing, swimming, boating, tubing, and fishing, as well as special program areas like woodworking, arts and crafts, painting, sewing, baking, ceramics, a giant climbing wall, high ropes adventure course and team building challenges. At night they will take part in theme dances, a talent show, professional entertainment, and classic camp experiences. Camp is six incredible days filled with fun, new friends and amazing opportunities. It is an experience they will talk about all year long and one they will never forget.
Family Requirements – This event is for all children with cancer and siblings who are between the ages of 4-16 or age 17 if they have never attended Camp Happy Days in the past.
Volunteer Requirements – All applicants must complete the Camp 2012 Application process for consideration.

The South Carolina Saltwater Sportfishing Association presents a fun day out on their boats for all CHD families and volunteers. This is a day trip you will not want to miss as we cruise over to the St. Johns Yacht Club for swimming, food, tubing and fellowship. We end with a relaxing boat cruise through the Charleston Harbor.

Counselor in Training Outing

James Island County Park
Our counselor in Training program is open to former campers who are age 17. Participants will meet throughout the year to learn about what is required of them to become a junior counselor the following year. We will begin our first training session in January 2012. For those of you who are eligible, please consider being a part of this experience.
Family Requirements – Eligible former campers who are on their skip year at Camp (age 17).

Pediatric Cancer Awareness Event

Join us in recognizing Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month by attending a Balloon Ceremony at Riverfront Park. We will have one of the doctors from MUSC Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology Team share about pediatric cancer. This event is open to the public so please tell your friends and family join us as we bring awareness to the community.

Family Weekend

Family Camp is a special 3-day weekend designed for the entire family fighting pediatric cancer. This event is for all surviving children with cancer, their parents, and siblings up to age 18, whereby the child with cancer has been diagnosed within five (5) years from the date of the event. Enjoy a weekend with your family in a luxurious hotel and venture around Charleston with other Camp Happy Days families. This is a fun-filled weekend your family will love.

Dream Dates are special days planned for a child who is having a hard time with the cancer battle. A day is prepared for the child and their family to give hope and the will to keep fighting. Information about kids who may be in need of a special day can be provided by families, volunteers and medical staff.

Camp Happy Days families that have a child that has been diagnosed with in the last 5 years are eligible for Family Crisis Assistance. Please contact the office to receive help with electric bills, car payments, food cards, gas cards to get your child to doctor appointments and much more. There is an allotment of money set aside for families to receive assistance. For more information contact Teresa at the Camp Happy Days office.
